Consultants overview
Every client,
the right VAT
and withholding
You sell hours, projects or a monthly retainer, often to clients in several countries and often with one main client. Invoices to businesses in Spain carry VAT and withholding. Invoices to businesses abroad carry no Spanish VAT.
You photograph receipts or upload invoices from your phone on the Numonis platform. Your accountant confirms every figure before it goes into a return and files your quarterly returns on time, whether you work as an autónomo or through an SL.
What we handle
Your accountant handles the small print of consulting
Most of it depends on who your clients are and where, and on whether you send invoices as an autónomo or through an SL.
-
Business clients abroad
You send invoices to companies with no base in Spain without Spanish VAT. With EU clients you also need to be in the ROI, and we declare each sale in Modelo 349 with key S.
-
Private clients
As a rule they pay Spanish VAT. The exception is advice to private clients who live outside the EU.
-
Withholding on your invoices
Business clients in Spain withhold 15%, or 7% the year you start and the two after, and pay it to the Tax Agency for you.
-
Autónomo or SL
Your accountant compares both with your numbers: an SL keeps your personal assets apart and pays corporate tax instead of IRPF.
-
One main client
If one client pays you at least 75% of your income and you meet the other conditions, you can be a TRADE, with a written, registered contract.
-
Returns on time
Your accountant files quarterly VAT and IRPF, Modelo 349 for EU clients, and the annual VAT summary and your Renta, or corporate tax if you bill through an SL.

FAQ
What people ask before joining Numonis
Do I charge VAT to a client in another country?
Not if it is a business with no base or permanent establishment in Spain. With EU businesses you need to be in the ROI and declare the sale in Modelo 349 with key S. Private clients generally pay Spanish VAT, except for advice to those living outside the EU.
What withholding goes on my invoices?
15% on invoices to businesses and professionals in Spain, or 7% the year you start and the two after. If at least 70% of last year’s professional income had withholding, you do not file the quarterly Modelo 130.
Should I work as an autónomo or through an SL?
It depends on your income, your risk and your partners. As an autónomo you start quickly and pay IRPF, but answer for debts with all your assets; an SL keeps them apart and pays corporate tax. Your accountant can compare both with your numbers.
Does Numonis connect to Stripe or my invoicing tool?
Yes. Stripe and your invoicing tool connect to the Numonis platform, so your payments and invoices reach your accountant on their own. You can also issue your invoices from the platform, which includes VeriFactu.
How much does it cost for a consultant?
As an autónomo, plans start at €49 + VAT a month, or €79 + VAT with bookkeeping and reconciliation. If you bill through an SL, plans for companies start at €99 + VAT a month, depending on your monthly transactions.
